If you didn't want to import from Japan, you can now locally buy this card from your favorite online retailers. Amazon don't currently stock it but give them a week or so.
This non passthrough version is currently about the same price if you were to import directly but the extra time of having passthrough is probably still worth it over this StarTech offering in the long run. Would need a significant price drop to make it appealing.
One thing I haven't been able to do is check the revision PCB number. The SC-500N1 went through like 5 different revisions (currently rev 3.6) so I wonder what revision StarTech is using. Newer revisions probably have less heat and power consumption. If anybody buys it then let me know.
